GOYANG-SI, SOUTH KOREA — When Anna Huang dropped a dramatic eagle on the 72nd hole at Centurion Club to edge home favourite Charley Hull at the PIF London Championship, she did more than hoist another trophy. At just 17 years old, the Canadian phenom became the youngest player in Ladies European Tour history to reach four career victories.
Now, Huang has touched down at New Korea Country Club for the Aramco Korea Championship, with her sights locked on an even rarer feat: completing a back-to-back title saga across Golf Saudi’s marquee PIF Global Series.
The tournament highlights Golf Saudi’s transformative role as an international tournament host, building premier global stages that offer world-class platforms, substantial prize purses, and headline-generating spotlight for women’s golf. By bringing elite fields across Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, the PIF Global Series has become a proving ground where teenage prodigies and established major champions go head-to-head on equal footing.
Huang’s London triumph underscored a stone-cold composure that defies her teenage years. Facing down Hull and a roaring home gallery, Huang never blinked, leaning into the relentless mindset that has defined her rapid ascent through the professional ranks.
“Golf is definitely a really interesting sport, and I think the mindset you always have to have is that it’s not over until the last putt drops, because anything can happen,” Huang reflected. “What happened in London was a prime example of that. You can’t give up, and you just gotta keep pushing until you finish out.”
That unwavering grit is already reshaping the conversation around Canadian golf on the world stage. Following in the footsteps of two-time major champion Brooke Henderson, Huang is rapidly becoming the next standard-bearer for Canadian talent overseas. For Huang, who spent her childhood studying Henderson’s every move from behind the ropes at home, carrying that national torch across Europe and Asia is a point of immense pride.
“Brooke definitely had a huge impact in my upbringing; she was my idol growing up. I watched her many years at the Canadian Open when I was still a kid,” Huang said. “Being able to look up to someone that’s from your country is really special. Now that I’m playing across in Europe and Asia, hopefully I’m bringing more attention over here, growing the game internationally for Canadians, and inspiring younger golfers to do the same.”
Heading into this week's Aramco Korea Championship, Huang's focus shifts from celebration to clinical execution. Against a world-class field headlined by home favourites and LPGA stars, the
demanding, tree-lined fairways of Goyang-si present a distinct tactical test—one that demands laser-focused course management and unwavering mental discipline.
“My next stretch is all in Asia, so this definitely prepares me for what’s coming,” Huang explained. “You just got to be really consistent off the tee, dial in your approach shots, and just pick a target. The golf course here, you need to have a lot of trust in your game.”
Having turned professional at 16, Huang has already logged multiple major championship appearances and stood toe-to-toe with the world's best across the PIF Global Series. As she gears up for LPGA qualifying and the next phase of her global footprint, her first two seasons on tour—accelerated by Golf Saudi's high-stakes competitive stages—have forged a seasoned competitor ready for golf's highest tier.
“Being on tour from 16, 17 has taught me so many life lessons, but I think the most important lesson I’ve learned is that if you want to achieve something and you put your mind to it, then you can do anything you want,” Huang said. “Definitely, I learned a lot about self-belief, patience, and just trust.”
